WordPress Style Sheet Is Missing? – How many times have you come across this yourself?
It’s annoying and can be very frustrating to correct especially if you have absolutely no idea as to whether it was something you did wrong or was caused by an update.
Having experienced this myself and at the time having no idea how to correct this, I had to put in several hours of research to find the reason why and how to correct it.
I’m going to give a detailed How to? on how to correct this.
The first thing you have to realise is that it happens when we upload New Themes via the internal uploader and haven’t checked to see what extra folders/files were in the zipped folder.
WordPress gets confused when additional files are included in the Upload, all you need is the Theme Folder nothing else.
Any other folders which are usually Help Files and maybe a MacOSX version is when the problem can start.
Plus if you delete a Theme especially a version of the WordPress Theme, by this I mean for example the 2010 Theme which I like to use at times, you can leave behind and empty folder named WordPress 2010 and then all of a sudden you now have a problem arise which says WordPress Style sheet is missing.
The best way to Upload a new Theme is by either uploading from your Desktop or via FTP or the Internal Server Uploader from within your Public Root Directory/WP-Content/Themes.
Also deleteing any Theme that you no longer want is best removed from within your Server, this makes sure that no empty folders are left behind.
The next time that you find your wordpress style sheet is missing you will know what to do.
